The box you run into is called the page. If you select Certificate Properties, you'll come across a tick for show folio border. You lot tin can't remove the folio, just you can united nations-tick that box and make it "invisible."

Note that the page boundary serves 2 useful purposes:

    • If yous load the SVG file into a web browser, only the content inside the page will exist visible.
    • If y'all export to a PNG file and select the "Folio" option, just the content inside the folio will exist exported.

So if you want to create an SVG file for a web browser, or a PNG for some other program, it'southward arguably best to leave the folio outline visible. Y'all tin change its size via the Document Properties dialog, to amend arrange what you're trying to create.

If y'all export to a PNG file and select the "Folio" option, just the content inside the page will be exported.

Similarly, when saving a re-create equally PDF to send to a print-house, the page is the only region that will be included in the PDF.

    Welcome aboard.

I'll agree with the others.  Displaying the folio/sheet edge is a proficient best practice.  If your going to a printer with a PDF, it shows y'all the non-printable surface area.  If the printer is border-less, this works fine.  If it is not, it at least gives you lot a visual of the folio expanse.  You lot would have to account for the printers margin.  It also serves to show if y'all have gone outside the sail region.  Objects exterior the sheet won't display in many cases, similar most browsers.  If yous exercise turn it off, think to in document preferences gear up the page size to the artwork size for spider web and many other applications and remember the printing ramifications.  It also allows centering to folio to be visible against the page size.

Hi everyone, I'yard trying to light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation cut a topo map of Hawaii and cannot get rid of that folio edge.  I accept the box unchecked to show the border and it will not go away.  It shows upwards equally a cut line when I motility it into our Glowforge too.  I'm a teacher and this would be a project to do with middle school students if I tin go it correct.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you lot!

That doesn't look similar the folio border, to be honest (the edge is usually thicker at the right and bottom to simulate a shadow). Are you sure yous haven't fatigued a rectangle object? Tin can you click it to select? Do you have multiple layers? Peradventure information technology's on a locked layer?

Perhaps y'all could share the SVG, just I call back you have some other object in at that place.

Thanks! You're right.  I started a new projection, got rid of the border, and opened the SVG.  The rectangle's nonetheless in that location and I tin't figure out how to get rid of it.  I can click on information technology, and I tried using the erase tool and correct-clicking stroke and selecting "remove stroke" just nothing happens.  I can separate all of the contour lines and delete the bathymetric lines, which is corking, merely I tin can't move or delete the rectangle.  I'yard new so apologize if this is something really simple.  I fastened the file so you can have a await.  Cheers again!

If you lot are looking to go to this, information technology is not exactly simple.

    Thanks for sharing your file.

Your rectangle is not i object, it's fabricated upwards from the edges of multiple objects piled up on top of each other. Click on the 'rectangle' then concord the left mouse button and drag away from the image (y'all can Undo later on). Practice you lot see how you have a single contour with a border around the border? Your whole image is made up of dissimilar single contours, each with its own edge (often in unlike places) and that's where the border is coming from. And unfortunately there are quite a lot of them.

Tyler Durden posted recently nearly an extension that can cut multiple objects inside a grouping, and so I gave information technology a attempt and accept attached what I got. This certainly got rid of the outside lines, though I had to lose a tiny bit of the contours nearly the edge. But... I'k non sure if this messes upwardly things for when you get to cut? I accept little experience with cutters and don't know if you need an 'border' all the way around? Right now, information technology's just a bunch of single lines, mostly not continued to each other.

Thank you! That's actually perfect.  I tin easily clean that up to get the cutlines I demand on Gloworge.  I'one thousand trying to add the extension so that I tin practise that myself and the Boolean Operations Extension seems to be blank.  I copied and pasted the src/ files into the extensions folder (took me a while to figure this out since I'chiliad not a CS guy), but I obviously must have done something wrong.

Hello again! Glad we're getting somewhere.

I'thou not sure what the problem is with the extension. I see you're using a Mac, and it does say that the extension hasn't been tested with Mac, and then I'g non sure if in that location's an issue in that location. (It says not tested with Windows either, just I did a quick test and it seemed to work fine.)

Can I double check where yous put the files ... in Inkscape, if you get to Edit / Preferences, then click on System... information technology will show y'all a list of binder locations, including one for 'User Extensions'. Did you lot copy the files into that folder? Or did you lot use the folder location further downwardly the list for 'Inkscape Extensions'? Y'all seem to take many other extensions there already, so I'g thinking you might have used the 2nd one (my user extensions folder was empty on both Linux & Windows). If you did use Inkscape Extensions (which is usually within your system folders, and ofttimes needs more permissions) could you attempt once again in the User Extensions folder and run into if that works?

Unfortunately I'1000 unable to test on a Mac to come across if it'due south but a folder result, or a trouble with the extension. :(
